Biography

Richard’s surname was derived from a hamlet by the river Boy on Dartmoor. In February 1407 he and his wife granted a lease of a messuage and farmland in ‘Bovyngton’ for 34s.4d. annual rent, making sure that the interests of their heirs were protected.2 Hurston is not recorded after his elections by both Ashburton and Plympton to the Parliament which assembled at Gloucester eight months later.
