Biography

A relation, perhaps a son, of the Thomas Lote, brewer, who was MP for Chippenham in 1363,1 he was described as mercator when he contributed as much as 3s.4d.to the borough’s share of the poll tax of 1379. In June 1386 he witnessed a local deed. Otherwise nothing more is known of him, unless he was the Thomas Lote who attested a similar document at Michaelmas 1413, which is improbable.2
