Controller of customs and subsidies, Exeter and all ports between Bridgwater and Sidmouth 17 Feb.-Dec. 1397.

Biography

In 1399, the year of his only known return to Parliament, Rose acted as attorney at the assizes held at Exeter on behalf of the local Cluniac house of Totnes. There is, however, no mention of him in the surviving records of the town itself. There can be little doubt that it was he who for most of 1397 had held office as controller of customs in all the Cornish and Devon ports.
