Biography

In March 1397 Sherter and his sister-in-law, Alice Boys, paid homage to Robert Rede, the new bishop of Chichester, for the land on Selsey bill which his wife and Alice had inherited from their father. As an executor of Roger Raketon, a local merchant, he was sued in the Staple court at Chichester by Richard Aylwarde of Boston, who was one of Raketon’s creditors, but the case was called before the chancellor for investigation in August 1413.
