Biography

In 1395 Worton was engaged in importing wine in Sussex. He witnessed a deed at Winchelsea in 1410, and in 1415 he served there on the jury which provided information to the royal commissioners surveying the town in order that walls might be built within its original perimeter. He himself owned property found to be affected by the proposals. In addition, he held land in the nearby villages of Guestling and Icklesham, on which, as a Portsman, he claimed exemption from taxation.
