Biography
By origin a Suffolk man, Chittinge sold his manor of Bedingham or Benningham in 1574, and it is not clear how or why he came to be MP for Orford in 1589. As such he was put on a committee on 11 Mar. 1589 concerned with salted fish. Returned for Barnstaple through the influence of his master the Earl of Bath, Chittinge could have attended two committees dealing with kerseys, 23 Mar. and 2 Apr. 1593.
