Biography

The Prices of Pilleth were a junior branch of the Prices of Monaughty. Price’s grandfather and namesake had sat for the shire in 1555, and his cousin James did so between 1593 and 1621. Price was a lawyer ‘called to the grand company’ of ancients of Gray’s Inn in 1613, which entitled him to practice in the courts at Westminster. He had no estate in Radnorshire until 1603 when he was granted some lands forfeited by the attainder of John Baskerville of Aberedw.
