Biography

The Member for Pembroke Boroughs in 1563 is given in Crown Office lists as ‘William Bevell’, but this name is unknown in west Wales and it seems likely that Bevell was written in error for the local name of Revell, in which case the obvious candidate for membership of the Commons is Thomas Revell’s younger brother William, born in the early 1540s, whose name is among the voters on the 1584 borough election return, which he also signed. When Lewis Dwnn drew up the Cilgerran family pedigree in 1591, William was dead, being survived by an illegitimate son.

Dwnn, Vis. Wales, i. 155-6; C219/29/224.
