Biography

Burghley was elected on his family’s interest both for Stamford and Rutland in 1747, choosing to sit for Rutland. Classed as ‘for?’ in Newcastle’s list of the new Parliament, he succeeded to the peerage shortly after his re-election in 1754. He died 26 Dec. 1793.
