Biography

Bertie, a member of the October Club, owed his seat at Beaumaris to his brother-in-law, the 4th Viscount Bulkeley. His only recorded votes, on the septennial and peerage bills, were against the Government. In 1727, unwilling to undertake to resign in favour of the 5th Viscount Bulkeley, who came of age in 1728, he stood unsuccessfully for Beaumaris as an independent Tory candidate.

He died 18 Dec. 1735.
