Biography

Stuart Wortley was in Parliament for only a few weeks, being returned for the family seat by his father, who made way for him. He is not known to have spoken; if he ever voted, he supported ministers. He died at his father’s house in Grosvenor Square, 14 Jan. 1797. His father’s agent felt ‘most sincerely for his family; for to be deprived of so amiable and excellent a member of it, must be the greatest of all earthly afflictions’.
