Bailiff, Ipswich Sept. 1399-1400.

Biography

John was probably a descendant of John Lewe, MP for Ipswich in 1338 and bailiff of the town in 1345, and of Hugh Lewe, bailiff in 1367 and MP in 1368. But he is not mentioned in the local court rolls of the period, and, apart from his election as bailiff and parliamentary burgess in the same month of September 1399, nothing is known about him.
