Biography
Courthope’s family had been settled in Sussex since the mid-17th century, his great-grandfather having bought Danny Park, which became their principal seat. Returned at a by-election for Bramber on 24 Feb. 1699, Courthope died a few days later, v.p., and was buried on 12 Mar. 1699 at Hurstpierpoint, Sussex.1
