b. 16 Nov. 1744, 2nd s. of Fletcher Norton, and bro. of Hon. Chapple, Hon. Edward, and Hon. William Norton.  educ. Harrow; Eton 1756-62; Univ. Coll. Oxf. 1762; M. Temple 1755, called 1769, bencher 1795, treasurer 1808.  m. 18 July 1793, Caroline Elizabeth, da. of James Balmain, commr. of Excise, 4s. 4da.

Norton sat in Parliament on Sir James Lowther’s interest. His name does not appear in any of the four divisions for which lists are available between 1773 and 1775, nor is there any record of his having spoken in the House. He vacated his seat when Lowther went into opposition, and a year later was given judicial office in Scotland.

He died 19 June 1820.
