Biography
Crawfurd owed his Ordnance place to the 3rd Duke of Richmond, master-general of the Ordnance, who put him up for Queenborough on the departmental interest in 1790. He thereupon resigned his office as solicitor of stamp duties. On 7 Feb. 1791 he moved the Ordnance estimates. In other respects he was a silent Member. He was listed hostile to the repeal of the Test Act in Scotland in April 1791. He died 13 Oct. 1793, having procured for his heir Charles Payne Crawfurd the office of deputy paymaster of widows’ pensions and a yearly pension of £350.
