BARRY, Charles Robert (1823-1897), of 3 Fitzwilliam Square East, Dublin, Co. Dublin

Published in

A Catholic barrister, Barry was an energetic government law officer and Liberal MP. His commitment to the ‘national cause’, was insufficient for him to retain Dungarvan in 1868, however, and thereafter he resumed his legal career, serving as Irish solicitor-general and attorney-general in Gladstone’s first administration, before being elevated to the Irish court of queen’s bench.
