Notes

According to c. Coates, Hist. Reading, app. xiv. one William Kennet was mayor in 1402-3 and 1415-16. Coates’s list is not reliable, and it would, in any case, be unwise to identify ‘Kennet’ with ‘Kenelme’.

  • 1. Identification with William, son and heir of John Kenelme, a small landowner of Clapcot near Wallingford, is not inconceivable: Boarstall Cart. (Oxf. Hist. Soc. lxxxviii), no. 780.
