Biography
Yorke’s mother improved the family interest at Richmond during her widowhood by purchasing several burgages. He was returned to the Convention Parliament as a Whig. He was twice given leave to go into the country, and his only committee was to hear a petition from a Yorkshire village against its Roman Catholic landlord. He did not support the disabling clause in the bill to restore corporations, but after regaining his seat in 1695 he voted consistently with the court Whigs. He was buried at Gouthwaite on 16 Nov. 1716. His son represented Richmond as an independent Whig (with two short intervals) from 1710 to 1757.3
